Food for the soul! Spending time with the boys and CYH staff

I was in Kampala a couple of weeks ago, and had the opportunity to spend some real quality with the boys and staff. It was like “food for my soul” as I got to see how the boys really care for each other like brothers, and how the relationship between the staff and boys is more and more like “family”. I was able to facilitate a group counseling sessions with Jude (our counselor), which focused on respect and discipline, to share a lunch meal cooked by the boys (led by Douglas and Rogers), join with Charles (warden) and Rique (life skills) in talking with the boys about their successes and challenges at school and how education is key to the boys futures, and to go with the boys and staff to the community pool.
